Chiropractic is the leading alternative to today’s modern medicine. The chiropractic profession has gained considerable recognition and scientific support over the past few decades. Research studies have shown that chiropractic not only reduces health care costs and improves recovery rates but increasing patient satisfaction has had the public looking at alternatives to the current health care system they consider not working.
Chiropractic is based on a philosophy of:
-The body is self-healing and self-regulating
-The human nervous system is the master control system of the body
-Any interference in the nervous system causes dysfunction in the body
-Chiropractic adjustments remove interferences to the nervous system.
More and more people are becoming sick and tired of being sick and tired. In most cases handfuls of pills are taken to change the way they feel…and it’s not working. Chiropractic is the alternative to the chronic medication. The symptoms that are being numbed by medication are the body’s way of telling us that something is wrong. Correcting the underlining problem is the primary focus of chiropractic.
How does all this work? Excellent question. Nerve impulses are sent from your brain to every organ in your body telling it what to do. These impulses are called Efferent signals. Those organs in return send a nerve impulse back telling the brain that everything is in working order, called Afferent nerve signals.
If a spinal vertebra decreases the signal to or from and organ, there will be decreased function (i.e. constipation). The opposite is true if a spinal vertebra causes the nerve to be irritated, there will be excited nerve signal (i.e. diarrhea). These nerve interferences occur in the spine, this is why chiropractors are interested in that area of your body. Correcting these nerve interferences, called subluxations, will result in the body functioning correctly and as an end result, less or no medication.
